Hi all,
I have my poor old truck back from the insurers, they paid out and also I bought him back. He has a bent bonnet and some broken lights but everything is cosmetic according to the engineer that had it.
I asked at some commercial premises about the work and was quoted about £800, which I don't have. I can get parts from ebay cheaply but I wondered if anyone here was near me and fancied the job of fitting the bits? I don't care how it looks as long as it will pass an mot, so damaged plastic etc, I don't give a stuff about!
I can't drive it as it is but there's lots of space on my drive and I will pay! I'm not too keen on doing it myself although I have taken off the headlights. Or if someone knows a mobile car person who won't charge £800....
I'm near Wisbech, on the norfolk cambs border.

Thanks! :p

How can you not have £800 if they have paid you out?
Are you not using the money from the pay out to fix it up cheaply and keeping the change.

If not then do it yourself as its all bolt on parts if that's all it needs.

I've just changed jobs which will mean an hours commute each way, so I decided to get a hatchback with the money for commuting. It took the 2k to get a decent one that will be reliable.
I need the truck for towing a horse trailer, neither car can do the job of the other, so it's worked out ok in that respect.
I am completely brassed as there was a gap between this and my last job so there is very little spare money. When I get paid I can manage to replace the lights and the bonnet may be persuaded to behave, if not I will replace that too.
I'm not very keen on the bonnet part, I think one hinge is a bit bent, so this is beyond me. I am going to ask around at work as there are a few car savvy folk there, but perhaps not land rover people.

Hi i live in march if thats any help to you, i have my own secure workshop where you welcome to bring it down and ill do it for you, if you can send me pictures of the damage thatd be great

Hi
I live between march and wisbech. If you come past the guyhirn roundabout towards wisbech, we are the first right :)
I have taken the headlights off (easy!) but it needs an indicator lens to be replaced and the bonnet either bent back into shape or replaced but I think one of the hinges is bent. It is all cosmetic, the engine and radiator are all ok. Welcome to come have a look and see what you think, I can make tea! Of course, I will reward you with lots of beer money if you can bear to do it. There is a chap in wimblington that sells spares on ebay, he has both bonnets and lights and is handily close to pick them up.

Hi Pam, just had a quick look on Ebay for parts: bonnets look like they'll be approx £30 and a pair of hinges approx £12, front indicators approx £12 each and headlights (if you need 'em) approx £20 each - don't forget that the TD5 headlights fit as well and give better light and are more modern-looking.

Wish I was closer to help more,

Good luck

Dave
