I just purchased a 1989 Chevrolet s-10 and the oil filter is up on the
drivers side inner fenderwell.
Is there any different way to change the oil or is it the same old sequence
?
I am figuring it is the same but thought I would ask.
Thanks,

Whenever I buy a "new" vehicle my first puchase is a repair book, choose
your favorite brand.
I would think your oil change would stay the same.

It's the same old way. But when they're high up like that, it makes a
real mess. My Dodge is like that. Get a plastic drink container just a
tad bigger around than your filter of choice. Cut it off about an inch
taller than the filter. Now slip it over the filter before you unscrew
it from the engine block. That will catch a lot of the oil before it
makes a huge mess.

By the way, I liked the new 4Runners oil filter. Is located at the top of
the engine so you don't have to crawl under. It also has a metal funnel
attached to the engine. You just have to put a cup at the bottom of the
funnel to catch the oil as you remove the filter. Great design. Wish other
vehicles had that kind of detail.
