Picture this, last night I sat at my pc browsing through all the nice and gentle stuff that flies around here when our doorbell rang. I opened the door and found my neighbour, the one who bought a FL Td4 Sport last year, after he testdrove mine, in complete destress. He had to bring his car in today for the first oilchance (15.000 kms) and as we were chatting around he mentioned one thing that struck him terribly, namely the quality of the heater in winter, he used to drive VW Golf's before (2 or 3) and he said that after a VERY short period of time or distance he got full heater, as one of my negative remarks was also the heater (in spite of the FBH I have which he hasn't) so I guess he's even worse off than I am. Another problem he mentioned was the shudder when driving away, I told him he should mention this as he still got 2 years of warranty left. Anyway I saw his wife tonight and she said that at the dealer they said they could do something about that shudder by replacing the clutch but that this is NOT a warranty thing. I guess they will say it's normal wear and not covered by warranty, this is unbelievable, he should have mentioned it straight away as he got it from day 1 but he thought it might ease away after a couple of thousands of kms which obviously it did not, so now he's in for this for the rest of his LR time or else pay the bill himself. As for the heating system, don't know as haven't seen him yet and his wife didn't know. (The info she had on the clutch was already given to them when he gave his car in this morning). I wonder how the rules in this kind of problem are in the UK? Cheers.

yes clutches are classed as a wearable item and only carry so much warranty i think its 1 year or 20k miles but cant be sure(memory lapse).
if car has only done 15k this would defo be warranty, we have changed a few clutches and dual mass flyweels for that reason

ahh i never read the kms was thinkin in miles, shoot the person that says this is not warranty, cant beleive they said that cause they get paid there warranty rate, in england we have a prior approval system were certain parts need aproving from landrover before we change them, the flywheel is on that list so they may need to submit a claim to land rover. if they have same systems we do

Never did understand your heater problem WILLO as mine has always been good , but if your gonna fit that maf please keep me informed , cheers mate. . .:)

Mine is a mark 1 L series Freelander and the heater in winter is terrible. The blower does next to nothing on level 1 and is very "gushy" on level 2 and MEGA GUSHY on level 3...never tried 4 incase the wind noise deafens me. Takes ages to warm up but strangely blows out comforting warmth on right hand turns?!? I have bled everything and all seems well but winter is hot water bottle time. I guess the design of the ducting is to blame for the loud wind noise from the blower and I am sure a well placed resistor could sort out the blower settings if and when I can be bothered getting round to it....

Hi Ming,

In my opinion they mounted one of the Mini heatercores they had in overstock at the time mine was assembled. Guess that if they had mounted a decent (sizewise) core the heating up of the car would be no problem. Re that maf, well, I got my code today from Visa and by wednesday my card should be at the bank, when all is ok I'll contact Ron and ask for such a maf75p. Take care.
