hi guys as to my last post i had the top rad hose fail yesterday, currently the jubilee clip fix is holding until i can get a new hose wednesday, quick question i use comma g48 coolant normally but last time i changed i used the blue coolant from euro car parts.

i want to go back to either g48 or genuine bmw coolant when i replace the hose, but as i need it in a hurry halfords now only sell 5l g48 in pre mixed form for £23 or 2ltr as a concentrate at nearly £18 a shot, so works out very expensive, they are trying to fob me off with silicate anti freeze which again i doubt will be the right stuff for the RR.

can anybody confirm if the silicate stuff is any good? i also looked at genuine landcover at £8 a litre plus vat!

does anybody know the BMW part number for the anti freeze, or is it just the same as a X5 when asking for price?

Genuine stuff is red, think its oat or something like that,

If you think halfords is expensive try asking about the price of genuine !

so just had the deal of the century from euro car parts, i've had to go for their blue again as it's all i can get locally, so i pop into store and the 5ltr containers are priced at £15.99 so i decide to buy 2 to allow for future topping up, i get to the counter the guys asks if i have an account to which i say yes but i've only ever bought online, he checks can't get those details and says i'll sort you a price anyway, so he charged me £16.98 for 10ltrs of anti freeze!

I believe this is from the L322 manual. Yu may find your bargain blue coolant is Methanol based. worth checking.
I also do not understand why your local eurocarparts does not stock OAT coolant, it is an industry standard coolant.

Cheers

they recommend the blue for all BMW applications as well as for LR the wording says Ethylene Glycol based Antifreeze with Winter Protection up to -36 C upon dilution and has BS numbers for use in ali engines etc, i think there are a few on here that have used it.
my local euro car parts had 3 types of anti freeze in stock, blue/ red & purple not sure if any are oat though

As long as it is right, the colours seem to cause a lot of confusion, nowadays I do not rely solely on the colour and check what it is Just wanted to make sure you had the correct info.

Cheers

normally i use G48 but the last twice i've need coolant in a hurry and can't buy the 5ltr concentrate containers locally, halyards have dropped them now and mainly do pre mixed or 2ltr g48 concentrate for £18, that makes the coolant close to LR dealer prices
