HI I am Mike, from Horncastle Lincolnshire. Over the years I have had a number of Land Rovers, First of which was an 88" Petrol 2A, Then came a Perkins re-engined 2B. The I had a 1953 80".
Next came an 88" Diesel 2 1/4, followed by a 127 defender. All of those i sold along the way (exept the 127 which I derove headlong into traffic on the other carraigeway, shortening it to about 120" on one chassis rail.) I then had a number of years without a Land Rover until I happened upon a 101" ex Rapier TRT.

All the time I was getting into heavier and heavier Vehicles, Three AEC Matadors, a Douglas Transpoerter 4x4, A Thornycroft Mighty Antar and 50 Ton capacity Dyson trailer then a Petrol engined Scammell Explorer. ( and a medium sized Austin K9 )

I ran the Antar for 12 years but three major breakdowns with the Antar (each costing roughly £5000 to sort out) in quick succession disillusioned me of the prospect of continued ownership of larger vehicles. I have sold all the Large vehicles except the Douglas, and am getting back to my roots of playing Land Rover. I bought another Petrol 2A (1964) (An ex RN Rover 8) but then I saw a Minerva 80" The Minerva was bought that day, and somehow I managed to list the 2A on Ebay and sell it, "buy it now" in 1 1/2 Minutes of the start.

I now have a much smaller fleet, The Douglas, An Eager Beaver air portable Fork Lift and its Air portable trailer, The 101" and the Minerva. I am looking forward to a less stressed life. Some of you may know me as section Leader of Diesel Heavy Haulage section at the Great Dorset Steam fair, a post a resigned last year. I continue to call myself Antarmike, but if we ever meet I will probably be in a Land Rover.

Below Antar and Dyson trailer running at 100 Tons gross weight.

A few days overlap between buying the Minerva and selling the Rover 8 allowed this picture to be taken.

My first 80" was Loaded

It had front Capstan winch, IsoSpeedic engine governor, Rear PTO with both Pulley for flat belt and the very rare Capstan winch by Aeroparts. It had the bottom hydraulic power take off which I normally used with a log splitter. This is the one vehicle out of all I have had and sold that I regret having done so.

This was its last re-incarnation, shortly before I sold it. Actually it never was military, It started life as an 80" Fire Engine at Courages Brewery in 1953. This livery was just a bit of fun.
