Hi there, been a member for a few months but haven't posted yet. Thought I might see if anyone out there can point me in the right direction to remedy to a nasty (and noisy) vibration at 55-65mph.

Think it may be linked to not taking off the diff lock after being off road and then driving on road with it on at 60-70mph. That's when it first occured - blinkin diff lock warning light stopped working so keep forgetting to take off diff lock.

I first noticed this vibration as I hit 55mph. There were a few metallic squealing noises as well which have now disappeared. It's just the vibration left.

It's back of the engine and gear box and I've checked for movement in the prop uv joints thinking I may have damaged the needle bearings somehow, but all seems fine.

Any ideas?

Also any good places to off road in Gloucestershire?

Ta,

Check all UJ's, front as well, we had a bust rear diff that we swore was knocking at the front .. noise travels up hollow tubes quite easily ... ;)

I'd also check the rear donut/cush drive thing. If all looks well then take the half-shafts out and check splines/twist. If all still OK take both props off and check for roundness/straightness etc and that the sliding bits still do .. ;)

Of course the vibration may be coincidence with your diff-lock issues, so also check all bushes, wheel bearings, wheel nuts, discs and pads .. and owt else that moves!!

ha you tit!!! Check the nut behind the steering wheel, remove it and your problem will be solved!!!

Bout time you posted summat, good ter finally see yer on ere matey! Hope all well!

All my checks will do is eliminate the easy bits .. if you've broken the centre diff-lock or gearbox output shafts it'll be a tad harder to fix ... ;)

Hopefully you'll find a fecked wheel bearing is all ...
