Have just been out to kwik fit to have the front tyres replaced..

I spent 10 minutes, watching the tyre fitter struggle to fit a tyre on the wheel....

He then came in and apologised, saying they couldnt do the job as the tyre would not fit on my rim...

I asked too see the tyre, and was presented with a 16" one.. When i questioned this i was told that this was indeed the correct one for my vehicle, and then told how experienced he was...

When i showed him the other 3 wheels, and pointed out that they were indeed 18".. Apart from being less than friendly about it, i was informed that i should have told him that i had "aftermarket" wheels on my vehicle...

So there we go, i have the wrong size wheels on my vehicle, and the range rover branding doesnt mean they are OEM spec..

Never knew i was such a trouble maker...

You couldn't make it up. What a stupid bastard he was. These are the blokes who do tyre safety checks for people. 18" wheels are not after market but standard fit on some P38s.

Reminds me of an episode in a shoe shop years ago. I handed the sales assistant a pair of shoes and asked her if she had them in size 11. She reappeared 5 mins later with a box and handed it me. I proceded to try them on only to notice they were size 9. When i questioned this she said she didnt have size 11 and the size 9 was the closest she had. WTF. Not as bad as your kwikfit chap but i bet they went to the same school...

so

come on

did you buy them??

Went to local Kwikfit to get my wheels balanced.
The bloke (not a young kid ) drove it onto the ramp, raised the suspension to off road setting, left the engine running (V8) raised the ramp and started to remove the wheels.
I asked why he left it running and was told because of safety instructions from the company. "Vehicles must be left running if fitted with air suspension in case of failure"
I suggested stands under the Chassis would be a safer option and a lot cheaper for the customer. He replied "We have to do what we are told"
Thank **** they were not doing the brakes, it would have cost me a tank of Petrol !!!!

A bag is more likely to fail at off road height. Running the engine won't make any difference if that happens. Bit nonsensical to me. Would have thought dropping it to access would be better it can only drop an inch then. You can still get the wheels off.

there yopu go making assumptions again how do you know they went to school :D

Think they are told to leave the engine running as to keep the suspension inflated

Now here's my problem, I need my tracking done on all 4 wheels, not many independents offer the service so was going to use qwik fit and the like

Now do I trust they can even do the job properly !?
Or take it to a stealers to get it done ??
Hmmm...

you need it running for tracking but not removal of wheels, its safer to leave as is as raising suspension is more likely to lead to failure of airbags, some cars you need to open tailgate and switch hazards on to enter jacking mode and even worse others you have to go into jacking mode on menu with monitors fitted up front to tell the car your going to jack it up:confused: all i can say is good luck hippo as its not where your going eg stealers or quick-fit its if they give your car to a kid to practice on:(

Kwik fit always used to tell me when i took my peugeot 407 in that the sensor valves were useless and would break when they changed the tyres, funnily enough they were the only garage that had issues wit them!

took a cortina into kwik fit for rear tyres, was told rear shocks need replacing so had them done. 8 months later took it back in for a puncture on rear left, was told shockers no good so had them replaced went to pay showed old receipt for the last shockers.12 month garuentee ?? i asked,oh um yeah was the reply.

the fella who works for me at my bay is ex kwik-fit,he worked 6 depos and was fitter manager at 3 of them tbh hes real good but left to work for me cause he prefers it that way as hes under no pressure to push sales and hit targets.

can easily beat you all for idiots
as from my name you should be able to guess that i only have one arm( from birth)
i have osteoporosis in my only shoulder, i was at the consultants, stripped to the waist, deciding if an operation was worth the risk, when i asked the so called specialist consultant, how will i feed myself, get dressed, etc:
his serious reply:
use your other arm.
i left instantly, without having the operation

Been trying to get an autograph off my mechanic for years... sexy-mechanic-girls-6.jpg....just don't mention airbags. I did once and got a slap...:5bdrool5:
