Hi everyone, my name is Henri,
I had a perfectly good H reg Land Rover 110 Defender 2.5 Tdi eight years ago, it was the perfect car for me and I never looked back. Then my first child was born, and to be transported, had to go in a child seat. My wife tried her best but after two months she told me that every time she tried to get the baby seat in the car, she done her back in! Landy had to go!! Now after eight years, a Sierra, Xantia, two E class Mercs, and finally an Alfa sportwagon I had to face it, either keep changing cars every time an oilchange is up, or swallow my street cred and get another Landy ( after all the kids can do a bit of climbing now!)
I watched ebay for months and I found the one that suited my bill, a series III
1972 Landie, all good points, one bad point that it was in Scotland!
The previous owner spend most his time, but definatly all his money restoring this Solihull Beauty.
The moral is :
A nice scotsman spending his life savings on a landie: £11,000
Flying one way to Glasgow economy: £20
9.5 hrs drive back, a sore back and knackered: £60
Owning a SIII tax exempt Landie with a new galvanised chassis, new 2.5 Nissan diesel engine, new fairey overdrive, Freshly sprayed two pack paint, every conceivable extra+ 5 new mudgrabbers: Priceless
