The metal cover on the back of the alternator came loose on my disco 300tdi,, and crossed the cables on the alternator resulting in sparks and battery light on permanently in the dash,,, ,,, now i am getting 12.71 v at the back of alternator at idle and 13.8v at revs,,, ,,
The battery hasnt gone completely flat yet but notice slightly slower turnover after a 2 or 3 days , so have been putting on charge every couple of days,,,
Arethese readings correct??,,, if so whats with the battery light,,,
