My 6 cd changer was stuck inside the player on a 99 RR with a disk extended into the "play" side of the unit...I took the unit out of the car, took the cover off, manually manipulated the extended tray and found a switch that would "spring" the whole cassette out of the player, then I reconnected the unit, and it would still not play...not sure if there are any fuses I could check or should I remove the drive unit and check any of the outputs? I tend to believe the cd changer unit is not getting power....as I believe the release button for the cassette is working electrically.
The message I get on the radio is NO MAGAZINE......
Any ideas?

Many thanks in advance,

Panos.

If your unit is the same as my Alpine, then it draws it's power directly via it's connection to the head unit, so checking the plugs at both ends are seated properly should be the first priority. If there is a fuse it's also more likely to be in the head unit end to protect it from anything misplugged into the bus socket, it may well be internal rather than accessible externally. It's also worth checking the changer, in case you dislodged the sensor that checks for a magazine when you mannually removed it.

Many thanks, I have checked plugs and it seems I have moved to a better state, i.e. I now get a "CD Error" message which means that they communicated. The problem is that I have tried placing the CD in other slot and now it blocked again. It finds and rejects it only if it is on slot #1.
I shall try some contact cleaner spray and cleaning the beam reader again.
I also need to find the sensor you mention. Any idea what it looks like?

I took it apart again, used a lot of contact cleaner for the plug and tried to move some arms. Then ....it started working .....
Looks as if it suddenly was ...unstuck!!!
Power comes through the main plug as you pointed out.
Thanks for all suggestions and best regards,

PanosL
