Hi Guys,

Well, I have taken a great leap of faith, and purchased a '99 300tdi Disco, mechanically sound, etc, but....it does have some bodywork corrosion.

I assume (I know you shouldn't assume, as it makes an ass of you and me !) that this is the efect of road salts/electrolytic reaction etc.

Now on a boat I'd fit a sacrificial anode to help with this.........what can I do with a Disco ? ?

I also presume that it is alkali ? therefore what kills it....acid....vinegar or something that will not eat it away completely, or is there a proprietary substance that I could apply before any filling and painting??

I know I'm a newby, and my last post was largely ignored, but I would be grateful for help on this one please?

Kind regards

JohnB

:welcome2: as for body corrioson i really dont think there is a cure:confused: i wonder if them anodes do work on land rovers its the same principle i suppose  but if you fill over corriosion it just cracks over time and falls out then looks alot worse than the corriosion on its own does i think the best is to ignore it :p and enjoy your new toy:D

Thanks guys, thats about what I'd thought. I'm not sure I can just leave it though...I'll go down the road of wire brushing out and etch priming first.

I am really looking forward to the fun bit, its a beauty to drive. forgot what fun they were!

Thanks again.
