aircon belt

My new purchase of a range rover p38 1999 DSE
I am enjoying the car apart from the air con.
I took it for a re-gas (it wasnt working and has been stood for a while) the garage said the aircon belt was missing. I have bought the belt am going to get a man that can to fit it. The question is why would some one have taken the belt of any ideas??

Taken off or fell off? Could be compressor is seized, or maybe previous owner thought it would aid economy. You may find re-gassing does no good, the condensors are prone to leaking. Get it leak tested before a re-gas.

I had my aircon belt off for a few days because the tensioner pulley was doing a lot of noise.

Sorry to jump in - but what size is the belt?

Mine is a 2000 diesel and my a/c belt is AWOL
