Hi all

I have a 2012 Range Rover Westminster with surprise surprise, an air suspension fault. I have plugged in my fault code reader which gave me plenty of readings regarding the ride height sensors etc. I have had it in with my local LR specialist today who have advised that it needs a new compressor and all my problems (with the car at least) will be solved. I’m not so sure so would appreciate some input from you fine people please.

Why don't you think there is a problem with the compressor?
When the system works the car goes up and down fine albeit back first then front so yes the compressor isn’t in the best shape. What I’m struggling to wrap my head around is that my code reader tells me that the fault is with the sensors so how does putting a new compressor on solve what I’m assuming to be an electrical problem?

Thanks, good bit of information to know.

Any thoughts on if it should be changed to solve the faults??? To my mind, changing the compressor won’t make a blind bit of difference to the sensors but I am not an expert and the people who are supposed to be the experts at the specialist say it will.

If it needs doing the it’s easy enough to do but I’d rather not spend time and money replacing a part that doesn’t need replacing.
 
What are the faults that your code reader tells you? It's usually pretty good at diagnosing itself in my opinion. There is an EAS test you can run through from the late Wammers here.... It's for the P38, but might pin point the problem.

I'm assuming it's a late L322 at 2012 ?

First check is, does the compressor produce enough pressure to toggle the pressure switch. (I think on later systems it's around 200psi). If not consider a rebuild kit & DIY it. I did a later Mercedes compressor for my bench, and it was actually easier than the P38 one to do.

If the system cannot adjust in the expected time due to lack of air, then yes it will log sensor faults !! either get the system full of air and check the height reading at each setting, or use a jack to lift the car & see if the sensors give valid reading at each height ?

Perhaps consider posting the fault code list for other to see ???
