Hi, I am new to Land Rover Discovery ownership and have just bought a 2001 ES manual. I am obviously feeling a bit paranoid about the car until I get used to it and as it was a private sale I dont have warranty.
My query is that sometimes when I park it up, the air suspension drops quite low, and on a couple of occassions the rear n/s suspension drops more than the o/s.
Have I got a problem or is this normal? If there is a problem, will it be an expensive one?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul

more than likely you have a leaky air spring.

Put the car in off road mode then crawl under the back armed with a tin of WD40 or soapy water and a torch, give the air springs a soaking and if they're leaking you'll see bubbles.

its fairly common for these to leak

Sounds like an air spring leak........Happened on 2001 Disco ES. First passenger side started dropping then driver side followed - but levelled off when driving, so pump was working.
Fortunately!!:) got mine 2nd hand from a main dealer and was still covered under the 12 month warrenty, as was a knackered starter motor, which was ok, as I thought they may have argued 'its wear & tear'.
Also think they were a bit embarrassed, as these faults + a couple of others they put right should probably should have been picked up when they classed it as a 'Quality Checked Used Vehicle' or wot ever the wording is.

Unfortunately I bought it privately so no warranty. Mine only drops on n/s rear but does pump up when engine is running. However, the air spring thing sounds expensive. If it is that do you have any idea how much they are and the best place to get hold of one.
Thanks fellas,
Paul

The cheapest I have seem them is about £70,I would hurry up and change it or you will soon need an air supply unit aswell.
