the front of my 96 4.0ltr se takes ages to come up on start up ? the rear lifts near enough straight away , when the front is up it stays up for around 15mins when driving , but will only lift again im stopped , say at a junction or roundabout and will then drop whilst driving the rear is fine :confused: :confused: :confused:
 
Sounds like a leak on the from the front half of the system somewhere. get it up to wading height and try saopy water round the bags and lines etc.

Are you sure the front isn't staying up on the run?? I would be surprised if you notice it move on the run, but you definately know if it was on the stops.
 
yeah its deffo going down when i set any where it stops lovely no brake shudder at all but 15/20 mins in to the journey when i hit the brakes the steering wheel is nearly pulled from my hands it shudders that bad , and sure enough if you get out and look its sitting nose down , and whille your standing there looking at it the front end comes up ,, im realy confused :confused: :confused:
 
Not sure what to sugggest other than perhaps sticky valves in the manifold block. Try a leak test on the system, just to confirm if the front half is leaking or not.

When you say the suspension drops after the 15 mins or so, is this only happening whilst driving, or will it drop whilst ticking over on the drive.
 
Leaking from the front (Airbags?) obviously. Given the physics of it I would say that when you are braking the vehicles weight is transferred forwards and the extra weight is expelling the air through the leak that the system is able to cope with when not under stress, you just have to find it :D
 
hi ... what about the 4 lights on the dashboard ? which one is on ? are the low and the normal level flashing ? i had the same problem and i changed the pump ( cause of the damaged seal within ? )

thats a good place to start, how long does it take to inflate to full height in the mornings?, and does it sink overnight, if so is it just the front?, if it is just the front then suspect the bags.

the back comes up fairly quickly but the front seems to take for ever and yes the front dies first :confused: :confused:
