hi,
i have just replaced all of the fuel lines and pump in my land rover, because the original daihatsu engine lift pump was broken, i used a facet electric pump and it works well.
it primes easily and runs great, however. after sitting for a few hours, it seems like air has entered the system, it’ll still start without bleeding. however will miss and smoke for about 10 seconds until it gets fuel again. i know the smoke isn’t anything to do with the health of the engine because once the airlock has self bled. it runs perfect. and if i manually bleed the system before starting. it doesn’t smoke.
obviously, this means that air is getting in the system somewhere. but i find it weird that it’s fine when running and only happens when stopped for a few hours. where would you suggest to look first? All of the lines have been replaced so i wouldn’t expect any pinholes. my first thought is the inlet to the lift pump. and the air floats to a higher point when stopped?
any suggestions appreciated.
thanks.
