Hello Forum,

Complete newbie here trying to buy my first Land Rover. Can anyone tell me if Air in the Brakes is anything to worry about. I'm looking at a '95 110 and the seller said it wasn't a problem they just need blowing out. Is this true? He sounded honest....

Also, I'm pretty handy and assume that the fact that the front door catches need tweaking won't be a big deal?

Is there anything I should really look out for or ask? I haven't yet seen the vehicle and am planning to take a baby-sitter with me when I go.

Any feed back would be great.

Thank-you.

if its just the brakes needing bled thats easy .. its why do they need bleeding and will the bled nipples break orf when you go to do it, you need to think about
. also if the brakes are a bit funny check fer leaks at the master cylinder, both internal and external. also the wheel cylinders.

If it isn't a problem why hasn't he done it. They all sound honest when there ripping you off. Me cynical? Never.

Adjusting the door catches isn't a big deal, adusting the hinges 'cos the door catches have been adjusted to their limits could be a big deal if they've rusted solid. To check open the doors and try to lift them up on their hinges.

Do a search for Widgets guide what to look for when buying a Land Rover.

The baby sitter always been good with LR's?

Look at the chassis for major rust, check the outriggers (sections of chassis that stick out from the side to support things) there is one each side at the front below the bulkhead, and 2 just behind the side tank position. The bulkhead itself.

Something a lot of people forget when getting a LR for the first time, is the transfer box, make sure it isn't completly seized.

Thank-you all. A good dose of cynicism never did anyone any harm. Will check out the Widgets Guide.

Looking foward to owning a Landy.
