Hi All,

The other half has got a year 2000 Xdi and it's started to make a hissing sound from the pollen filter box. The hissing literally starts and stops as quick as I press the air con button.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Do I need to completely remove this box to change the pollen filter?

Cheers

if yer A/c is low on gas it will hiss from the ..;oh fook ave forgotten what its called and i can't be arse looking it up.. so are yer sure yer gas is up to scratch?

without teaching you to suck eggs, are you sure it's the aircon button and not the re-circ? I would expect the symptoms from re-circ, but not air con

Definitely the air con button.........

I'll get the gas checked ala Slob and see if that's the problem.

Cheers

Hi Disco Magic,

i have a similar issue when i hit the AC button, though am not sure where exactly under the bonnet the noise is coming from.
Did you have your issue resolved and if so what was the problem.

many thanks
Reuben

I'd suggest you don't hold your breath until an answer is dropped in.......(Check the nbr of posts by this member (2) and you can see a typical person needing an answer and when helped, afterwards thinks "screw them all".)

Having had air con problems recently I'm **** hot on AC now..:D:D
What you can hear is the liquid refrigerant vapourising as it passes through the expansion valve into the evaporator. This normally happens quietly but due to the low side gas pressure being too low the velocity is greater so the noise is louder.

So ya need ya gas toppin up. :)

It can be a simple DIY. Loads of info around on procedure if you google it. Halfrauds can supply kits.
Only advice from me is to use a gas canister that has the lubricant added to it as well.

Well in my case the cheapest I found was FROM £45. I was suspicious of the FROM and wouldn't trust **** Fit with a push bike. :D

Can anyone suggest a garage familiar with landrovers in manchester. The one i went to last took a couple hrs to locate the airbag ecu under the heater. A 10min job ended up costing 2hrs labour.
Still diagonistics test will not detect my ECU.
