Hello all.

I had heard some noise coming from the air con unit and decided to fit a new belt. This didn't cure the problem. It seems that the air con pulley comes into action on it's own? with out pressing the air con button or any other part of the system. It does a few revolutions and some noise then stops and goes quiet. Is it on it's way out?

Thanks in advance as always

There's a lectric connection on the compressor. Unplug that to see if there's a difference. Could be yer Freelander is trying to activate the clutch. The compressor has a magnetic clutch to allow the pulley to turn, to allow the option of the compressor running, or not. It could be muck on the clutch cause it to stick for a few seconds. If you take the belt off you should be able to spin the air con pulley.
