Evening. I’ve just bought my first Disco 4 3.0 TDV6 (after my TD5 broke down for the third time in a month - it’ll now be lovingly restored!).

Anyway, loving the 4.

Only slight concern is that when I raise the suspension the front pops up quite smoothly, followed by the rear, less so, and then the compressor just seems to keep running in the background. It does eventually turn off but duration seems a bit random - it can run for many minutes.

there doesn’t seem to be any sinking of the bags overnight, so fairly certain no leak, and it doesn’t seem to run at all at normal ride height.

Any ideas? Normal-ish?

I don’t have a diagnostics just yet.

Cheers

Robb

Our l322 pops up the front first and the the back slower, it has a good compressor.
The compressor will continue to run to refil the tank.
If the compressor is weak it will run longer and eventually give you some sort of warning on the dash.

So I would say normal if no warnings.

Thanks - I didn’t realise there was a tank.

Just curious - if your compressor is decent - roughly how long does it run on yours?

I don’t often “raise” it . Plus the L322 compressor is in the spare wheel well and with the amount of stuff in there I can hardly hear it, so sorry I couldn’t say.

Get your diagnostics and check it all out.

Our original compressor lasted 10yrs I think. But it can/is a variable of use.

Weak pump and or a leak in the air tank both very common on the d3 and d4. Checking gallery pressure eith diag can help locate a fault if you indeed have one.
Thanks. Just looking through all the paperwork once more and can see the it actually got a new compressor and tank just last year. Maybe I’m just not used to it compared to the D2.

I’m gonna order a diagnostic anyways, god knows I’ll need it.

Or a leak on the tank side of the valve block?
Personally I'd take the lower cover off the compressor & valve block and spray with soapy water then send it up & down a couple of times and check for bubbles. If OK, then do the same for the front & rear valve blocks, just for completeness - although if there was a leak on the crosslink valve blocks, then I'd expect it to be on it's bump stops after a few days.
The other thing that should be confirmed is if the vehicle has the correct software for the type of compressor fitted, and TBH, if a chinesium copy has been fitted, don't expect the output to be in any way comparable to a 'proper' one.
