I passed my test and bought my 110 `12 seater station wagon before the restrictions came in. Now I am having to renew my licence and there seems to be many confusing issues on the Government website and on various sites, even on here where I have looked at some previous posts on the subject. I know I should contact the officials (!) but do not have much faith in them knowing all the answers. So I was wondering if anyone on here has gone through this or know the answers to:

1. Do I now have to have an extra category added to the new licence for driving a 12 seater?
2.Is the 12 seater classified as "private/light goods" as per log book (showing my age) or "minibus" or "large passenger vehicle" as per official websites?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

As you are not charging to carry passengers it’s not a PSV.
Your entitlement for carrying persons should not change.
They may need you to have a medical but doctors can fill these out(for a fee) or get a HGV doctor to test you(about £80)

Ring & confirm this. If they don’t know as what department would,
(Photocopy any licence before sending or say you have misplaced it so you can prove you had entitlements)

Precedent has already been set, dvla have already said they don't accept photocopies as proof of any entitlement.
When you renew your photocard, you are supposed to send off the current one, which you can't if you've 'lost' it. Though they do say if you 'find' it later, you should destroy it.

I thought Hicap phill meant keep a photocopy of the licence (but send the licence)........? No photocard, just the original pink paper one!
