Hey,

i just bought an aftermarket stereo for the car as the current stereo did not come with its security face panel for some reason. I have connected it all up but the sound wont work except when on radio. It's driving me mad. I get no sound on iPod, cd/dvd but i do get sound on radio. I noticed that when in radio mode if i increase the revs on the car there is a frequency type noise coming through the stereo system/speakers that increases in pitch the more i rev. Could this be an earthing problem or what?

you will need a supressor fitted to get rid of the noise, mine does it strangely if a plug lead is off!!!

as for the sound, mine had a phone circuit board attached in the wiring, it only put sound on some speakers. took it out and all is fine!

a supressor? Yet another bit to buy for old girl.

Yeah the sound issue is weird. Took stereo back and they tested it in front of me and it all worked. They had no idea what the problem is. But the other day i found an electrical THING in behind the trim where the subwoofer is. It has wires going to it but got no idea what it is. Would it be anything to do with that?

I'm going mad not having music in the car! I keep hearing all the rattles ha ha

i had this on an audi s8 that i bought, sorry mate but im pretty good on car audio electrics but it had to go in car audio specialist has needed special wiring harness made due to the built in amps, subs etc.

a supressor not that expensive about a fiver but that will only stop the interference,i tried all sorts with my one and in the end got fed up of talking to the mrs when we was in the car i just took it in to get it done as couldnt be doing with speaking to the mrs all the time lol

i'll need to bite the bullet and just pay a pro to fix it then! the mrs has her own car so not got this problem! ha! but the problem i do have is that i keep going into deep reflective thought and by the end of each car journey i keep making big plans for life! Ha ha!

yeh it only cost me £18 and the done it in 20 mins, they audis have a bose system in where my vogue now has a harman kerdon system, but still similar built in amps subs etc,you may find that it only needs 1 wire looping over but trying to do it yourself could blow alot of things.

It happened to mine i had components installed all round and i kept getting the hissing noise come through then it would happen when the stereo was off. in the end we had to rip out all the old loom it was just interfering.

You also have to get some sort of thing i suppose its called a suppressor, theres a shop of ebay that sells them. only about 10quid. ill see if i can find the link.
