Hi Guys

Some moron snapped our aerial off on our 3door 53 Sport.

I tried to drill out the remaining snapped off piece but it wasn't going to happenn as my thread extractor snapped off!

I now have a new base and aerial from LR.
I have read that I can access the base from behind the interior light fitting.

Do I need to seal the base with some sort of silicone where it joins to the roof to make it watertight?

Any advice gratefully received :)

I swapped mine the other week, mine came with a rubber seal, and when bolted on seals down on the rubber. Had to take roof lining off completely to be able to access the alarm sensor bracket, which on mine had to be swivelled out of the way to access the aerial lead/bolt.

Should be lamp out and a 10mm nut i think. Sits quite deep on its thread.

You shouldnt seal them down unless your having issues with them leaking (like you've hit a height restriction bar and its put a slight dent into the roof causing it to leak).

Just clean the roof with a damp cloth before refitting the new one so it has clean mating surfaces.

That's what I thought, but I could not see/access the aerial bolt until I'd swivelled the alarm sensor bracket out of the way, which required the roof lining off.

Maybe my eyesight is too poor and my fingers are too fat :D

Thx, was dead easy :)

On the 3 door model, the aerial is almost directly above the interior light. Extra pair of hands to hold it in place when tightening it up and job done!
