Advice please in buying a SH freelander 2004

Hi we are about to buy our first landrover - a 2004 freelander TDF 2.0 SE S/W. Has anyone got any tips of things to look for to make sure we are not buying into an imminent problem? Our garage really thinks freelanders are a bad idea with regards reliability but it's perfect for our needs on a farm with dogs towing etc many thanks

Yes just one tip DON'T ! A mate had one apart from two engine rebuilds in less than 6 years, door windows that did not work, a back door that would not open properly.
It was fine.
