advice on buying a 1996 4.6 hse

Hi there guys am looking at buying a rangerover 1996 4.6 hse this weekend and am abit concerned with some of the problems been reading about i.e. overheating? porous blocks!! Is there any way to tell if it is overheating say leaving it to idle for 15 mins or so? will the oil be emulsified? Even if it has been changed to say hide a problem …it has service history last one @ 85000 miles… it has 101000 on the clock at the moment.. also are they bad for corrosion and if so where to look out for it? Is there any thing else I should be checking don t want to make a mistake as the last land rover I bought was junk

Pay someone who really knows about these cars before you buy,to give it a good look over.Not an AA/RAC inspection but a proper RR specialist - it will save you loads + lots of headaches.

Don't but a '96 over 80k miles unless it has had a new engine
I am on my second '96 the current one was mint when I bought it, full service history well cared for etc. etc. and I have still ended up having to drop in a new block at 120k miles
now I am also getting all the problems with the electrics starting to appear that I had with the previous ,

blend motors, door locks, HEVAC screen, EAS sensor fault ...
the list is endless and my pockets are always empty !

don't want to sell it though spent too much on a new engine 20k miles ago

i can only reflect on what eightinavee says a good is a great car but a bad one will break your heart , wreak your bank balance , a most likely be the cause of a divorce , seek the service`s of a proper rangerover p38 man .
