adjusting hand brake on p38 2.5dse help

i have a p38 2.5 dse and has mot next week but i dnt know how to adjust the hand brake as it is in the prop eney ideas help please as in has to past mot because my son travels bk and foward to hospital ever week as he has a lif threatning dease. Soz cnt spell. please help

Under the car on the lower area of the transmission brake back plate you will feel a bolt head. This is the brake shoe adjuster. You are supposed to tighten this to 18 lb feet 25 nm then slacken it 1.5 turns. But a gentle tighten then turning back 1.5 turns should do it. The hand brake is supposed to be fully on at three clicks. If not, to adjust this you need to adjust the cable length at top of cable where it goes through floor. DO NOT use this adjustment without first adjusting shoes. If someone has used this to adjust hand brake, knock it back before adjusting shoes then re-adjust.
