My 2014 Freelander has developed a strange fault. It runs really well.except when the engine is hot or the ambient temperature is high. When pressing the pedal, when the car is stationary..nothing happens for several seconds, before the car starts to slowly move off. Sometimes the pedal can be pushed to the floor, and nothing happens at all. If the engine is turned off for a few minutes, it then starts, runs and behaves reasonably normally. We have already replaced the throttle body and the accelerator potentiometer, and it’s still the same! No faults are displayed by the ECU. It is not the turbo or intercooler piping, these are all connected, tight and not leaking. Has anyone any ideas please

Hello,

Manual ? Automatic ? EV ?

When the fault happens, does the engine rev when you push the pedal ?

Please go to the garage, ask them to read the fault codes.

Regards

It’s an automatic.. and no, that’s the problem. I floor the throttle and the engine stays at idle for four or five seconds, before slowly increasing revs. . We have already put it on a code reader and it shows absolutely nothing. The problem is definitely heat related. I’m wondering if the problem is with the ECU. This was changed a year ago when I had to have a new key fob. It really is strange.. and dangerous. When pulling out at a junction, you really need and expect something to happen when you put your foot down!
