Afternoon all , just after a little advice. I have recently changed the ball joints on my disco 2 2003 , all went well until i tried to drive it and the traction control kicked in when i started to drive it (5 - 10 mph) and when turning right. So got the nano out and checked for fault codes and it told me i has an issue with front right ABS sensor (06-05 front right sensor electrical failure 006 times) along with the hand brake light and abs light on the dash. First thing i did was to fit a new sensor as i guessed i must have damaged it when removing the wheel bearing but this didn't fix it. I should add here as well i have checked the nano is showing the correct sensor.

Things i have done so far based of other threads:
- Changed the sensor (also tried it with "O" ring fitted and not fitted)
- Checked the Ohms resistance from the ecm plug (981 ohms)
- Checked the voltage on the nano (Front right 2.23 / front left 2.21 / rear right 2.23 / rear left 2.21)

my plan next was to run a jumper wire from the new abs plug to the ECM but its showing a voltage so not sure if this is just an SLABs ecm issue that has started or not. Any advise would be much appreciated.

Hi, some clarification needed
you say

when you say the TC kicked in did you see the TC warning light flashing too ?

so do you have only the ABS and hand brake lights on without HDC and TC the and that sensor fault code is current or not? ... cos if it's so the TC is disabled, it can't make tricks...

as you have normal stationary inputs from the sensors they are electrically OK so maybe that hub was on it's way out and as you worked around it for the ball joints the reluctor ring's play might got worst hence the code or TC erratic behaviour

Hi Sierrafery, hope your well ?

No TC light when it started to kick in.
Yes only hand brake light and ABS light , none of the others are on.

Yes the code is still on, I can clear it with the nano but comes straight back up.

Yes did start to think it could be the hub but wanted to check and get other people’s thoughts incase I was missing something.

do you see the HDC and TC warnings coming on then off after you turn ignition on 2 ?

Thank you sierrafery
Update on progress , one thing I said earlier on is incorrect , the HDC & TC light do not come on at all even when ignition is turned to the second location so I stripped the cluster down to see if someone had blocked the lights but they were clear.
I got my hands on another SLABS ecm but just before installing I checked the voltage again with the nano and now have 0v on the front right sensor. I did a continuity check from the ECM plug to the plug on the wheel arch and found no issue. I have changed the ECM and again issue remains and 0v on the nano.

Too bad cos if they come on on self test but not when a fault is present then the ECU is defiitely gone while in this case
for the HDC/TC warnings check with nanocom in BCU - Instrument pack to not be disabled as nanocom can mix up settings in BCU without request

as about the 0v on that sensor check resistance on that circuit with sensor connected to see if you get around 1000 Ohm or not

The disco has had the BCU changed recently so I will definitely take a look.

Update this evening , I put the old BCU unit on and the SLABS ecm . Fitted a new hub and this seems to have cured the issue on the right hand side. After a short drive ABS light back on now on the left side. Planing on fitting a new hub on the other side and hopefully that should cure this issue.
As Sierrafery suggested some of the settings had not been activated in the BCU so that’s why the lights would not come on with the ignition.
