ABS Air Gap

Here's a puzzle
N reg 300tdi with the abs light on, plugged into diagnostics and after all the old codes were cleared it said front right wheel sensor open circuit, so it got a new sensor, the light still comes on but now says front right wheel sensor air gap, I've re set this and had a good look down the hole at the abs ring which looks all good. Anyone got any ideas where to look next?

Check your wheel bearings as will make air gap too big if there is play, push sensor all the way in and let the sensor gap set itself when you drive it

Thanks Dizzytim, I have fitted new wheel bearings last week on that side and even tried fitting the sensor to the holder/swivel before fitting that to the hub just to be mega sure it was poking through far enough.
