I bought my 1996 P38 4.6 HSE a few weeks ago and i drove it from Southampton to Essex with no problems at all, That was on a Saturday, by Sunday i couldn't start the damm thing, Message kept coming up Engine Disabled??? I thought that the problem might of had been with the imobiser and i spent ages doing the code thing with the key in the door lock, It still wouldn't let me start it.
Out of desperation and lack of new ideas i thought about putting a meter across the battery terminals, and i was shocked at the result it read 8v !!!
A quick charge up with the battery charger made the voltage go up slightly but i kept on losing the volts, it kept on dropping.
I remembered that they sold batteries at Costco in lakeside so as i knew a friend was going there i phoned him and got him to get me one for the P38.
IT WAS ONLY A BOSCH SILVER BATTERY AND ONLY £33 + vat
Great Price, especially since i had bills going back to 1991 and the guy i bought the car from paid £71.00 in Halfords???!!!!
Since then the cars been fine, Brilliant in fact and i'm well pleased, So if any of you are needing a new battery get yourselves down to Costco, you need to be a member, but its CHEAP!!
