I sold my Hannibal roofrack on Eblag this week and the chap came round to collect it tonight. The easiest thing to do is to fit it to his Disco whilst he was here. Whilst fitting it he stood on his side step - it gave way under his weight! The arm that connects to the outrigger had rusted through.
Being a good little boy scout type I did my goo deed for the day and removed it, took it into the garage used the grinder to take the rusted arm off and rebuilt it by welding some new metal into it. Then I got back under his Disco and re-fitted it with new bolts, nuts and washers. The job was done and strong enough to jump up and down on. He did give me a "drink" for doing it.
Hardest earned £10 I've ever taken!
