Yo..
Don't know if'n Tackers are welcome here.., but.., lately when I try to
start me o'l (1991) Tracker sometimes when I turn the key it won't
turn-over! When I turn the key the indicator lights dim slightly, so I
guess there's I load on the start but it won't turn.
If I rock it in gear, then it will usually turn-over and start. I notice
it's (the starter) as a solenoid on the starter which might be hanging-up?
I think they want $150-170 bucks for a rebuilt starter.., so can I just pull
the starter, clean it up, lube it, and continue to march? What'a think?
Thanks..!!

If the starter is a Denso brad, you might have a look at the page below for a quick fix:

Here in Canada, our local parts store, Canadian Tire carries rebuild
kits for starters in the $20.00 range. They come with brushes and
bushings and a bendix if you have that type.

I would guess your brushes are worn out. Moving the flywheel a bit can
make it spin up easier depending on the gear alignment and the
compression holding in the pistons, rocking it can make valves open.
