90 V's 110 For Green Laning?

How do they compare for green lane use? Would the 110 struggle more due to it's longer wheel base? I'll be looking for a Defender later in the year purely for green laning (got my Disco 2 for tarting around town) and I really fancy a 110 crew cab to do my bidding. I've got this image of what it will look like and I just need to know if the 110 is suitable or would I better off with a 90?

Technically a 90 is superior to a 110 offroad,

However, if your planning trips etc etc a 110 might be better suited,

Load space isnt great lol, frequently finding I dont have the room for touring,

If its local lanes,

a 90 will be perfect,

I think either will be fine for the vast majority of lanes.

I've got a 90 but haven't been down any lanes where a 110 would struggle, and I've driven a fair few

Go for the 110 of that's what you fancy

How is a 90 superior to a 110 off road?

Both have their advantages to be honest.


A 90 will fit around tighter tracks easier and will have better departure and break-over angles however a 110 might bridge ruts an holes better and be more stable on steep slopes or climb short steep inclines easier as the front wheels will be at the top before the rear starts to climb while a 90 would have all four wheels having to climb at once.

Wherever I've had any difficulty in my 110, I couldn't imagine a 90 with the same setup fairing any better really. Only difference that I could see really is a 90 would be easier to turn in tracks going through trees when you reach a dead end but even at that, it just means a 5 or 7 point turn rather than 3

110 crewcab is also much nicer for laning too as you can pack in a few people into it and still carry a reasonable amount of stuff in the back.


90 obviously has more advantages offroad in more extreme situations especially if your bringing alot of mods into the equation and a 90 is lighter too but I don't think any of it would be noticed when greenlaning with just the basic mods like tyres, maybe basic 2" lift, winch etc.

My 110 gets everywhere the 90s n discos get.
The small difference in it isnt going to make a difference on green lanes, if they are so extreme that your worrying about departure and breakovers, it probably shouldnt be being driven
