90 roof lining

My 200 Tdi 90 has no roof lining. I guess it was binned or sold when the car was rechassied as the paint is like new.

I'm struggling to fins a SH one, but I was wondering if I will need to get a fitting kit and if there is any form of insulation that fits between the lining and the roof?

Also I want to fit lining to the rear roof, but I have no upper roof windows and all the linings I can find have the cutouts for these upper windows. Are they available without the cutouts, or are there filler pieces?

Hi Val, this is always a good topic. Plenty of folk out there have used OEM headlinings (expensive i guess) and others have used other materials, camping roll mats, foam and many choose self adhesive sound deadening. I think @Mackers even did his in faux snake skin material . I took all my roof out of the 110 as it was trapping condensation, which in turn caused the vinyl to separate the form. Now its repaired I putting it back, I too have added sound mat to the roof panels.

Van 90’s had no roof liners from factory, only in the front. County’s had the liner with the Alpine Lights.

No insulation was fitted, it was a moulded fibreboard affair with a micro layer of foam under the vinyl covering.

You can DIY with closed cell foam stuck on with carpet adhesive in a colour of your choice - soundproof and cuts down the condensation....

I've seen a few people who fit county headlining, fill the alpine gaps with matching material and closed cell foam. Usually looks pretty good.
I've seen guys make their own headlining using accoustic carpet glued to closed cell foam, which self sticks to a clean roof. This is one of the options I am considering.

I silent coated my roof then acoustic dodo'd it. Actually my 4 way stretch croc vinyl isn't that camp, in fact it's Hogan butch (without the smell of his outback crotch)
