90 Ram Charger 318 problems

I recently had my truck partly submerged. Don't ask!
After it was recovered I drained all the fluids, and replaced the rod and
main bearings and the oil pump.
I have oil pressure and the engine runs good when it first cranks. But
when it runs for a while and gets hot the engine starts to knock and then
wants to over heat. Also the oil pressure will not rise when the motor is
revved after it heats up.
Any ideas?

What kind of knock are we talking? With low oil pressure it tends to
suggest worn engine bearings.

So many ideas that I can't list 'em all! <g>

How deep was teh water? Was the oil contaminated?

I'd suspect that there was water in some of the oil lines and that
this wiped out the bearings, or that perhaps when you put in the new
bearings you didn't get the water out of the oils syte, use assembly
lube, or forgot to prime the oil system.

My main idea is perhaps painful: I think a complete engine rebuild is
in order. However, the 318 has been around for a really long time, is
a good engine, and you probably could find a good used engine easily.

I think I agree with this. The block was not flushed properly. Also why
did he replace the bearings? Did he run it first and then damage the
journals too? He needs to pull motor and inspect everything and mic out
the crank journals too.

Yeah it was run at the shop that towed it. They "supposedly" drained and
flushed everything.
I started it up and drove it home and it started knocking.
I'm just gonna have the engine rebuilt, or order a whole new crate engine.
Probably order a crate engine since the truck won't be down as long then.
Thanks for the answers. I figured this was what it was but decided to ask
anyway!
