Hello,
I have a pre-Defender 90 and it's been sat idle for a couple of months since its MOT.
I started it up today, and none of the rear lights are working.
No running reds, no brake lights, no fog light, and no RHS indicator.
The left rear indicator does work.

I've connected a trailer light bar and the same things happens on there - only the left indicator works.

All of the front lights and dashboard lights work as they should.

Can anyone recommend anything to look at/clean/check in particular?

Many thanks.
:)

test wires in lamps for a live feed when each is switched on , near clutch master cylinder is connector for rear loom if no feed at lamps check their for live feed ,check earths by using a suitable length of wire from bulb to suitable earth point

OK. I've re-earthed both sides at the rear and checked the earth blocks. Both seem OK.
I've also discovered that there's no live feed on any of the wires coming to the rear of the truck except for the red/green LHS indicator, so it looks like the problem is further up the loom.

Next stop is the connector by the clutch MS I guess.

I think I've discovered the cause!
It perplexed me that there was current at the connecter under the bonnet, and not at the rear, so I had a scrabble around under the body. This was under a mass of insulating tape at the rear.

Thank you all for your help.

that would do it, lol

Someone got at it with a pair of snips? that sort of damage doesn't happen by itself!!

looks like corrosion to me. it gets very brittle and resistant. then when he has taken the tape off it falls apart.

same happened on mine where someone used scotchs to hook up a trailer plug.
