Ok so the roofs off and the beast is finally undercover in the garage so where do i start. Well I know n/s rear brake is u/s and suspension creaks a bit on that side so up she goes, wheel off and on stands. 2 hours later and ive found rear spring has been rubbing on chassis, so spring off and i find botton spring location on axle has rotted away alowing spring to wander, also some rather bad plating on spring turret has reduced clearance a bit around spring. Im left with just 2 small bits of solid plate on the axle where the seat needs to fit - are repair mounts available or is this a diy job? I hope ive started at the worst corner!! steve

Have a look at Paddocks Pictures of most things. Every thing you ask is Diy provided you have a welder as some of the bits will have to be welded.

Yes - I can fab a new mount on the axle to bolt the lower spring seat to, but should the spring sit directly in the steel locations or should there be some sort of flexible seat? - my manual refers to "remove the spring seat" but shows no pictures. thanks steve

Yes it should bolt straight on to the piece you are making.
