so it was rotten at some point, the only way to check it out is get underneath with a hammer and magnet. Ideally take someone that knows discos and get it up on a ramp, the seller doesn't say what it's patched with? You don't give your location so getting help might be a bit difficult.

Mine's had 5 POs, last owner 3.5 years, rear floor welded, recent cambelt.
Floor welding isn't good enough, arches are shot and there was no paperwork for the cambelt so it's in the garage as I type. Long ownership and fewer owners doesn't necessarily get you a problem-free car but Discos aren't like family hatchbacks and some folks just don't get on with them so move them on quickly.
It would be worth finding out why it's being sold so quickly, if you can. Could be faults that the current owner isn't admitting to (that you may or may not be able to deal with, if the price is right).
There is a heck of a lot of buying advice to be found on this forum through the wonderful Search Box.

Yes you are, buts its a 20 year old land rover, so research common faults / issues and don't let your heart rule your head.
Find a 20 year old Disco without patches and you will find holes.
Ask if they have photos of the repairs. Most folk take loads of photos before and after.
Regarding the number of owners. I have seen loads of people fulfil their dream of owning a landy, only to sell it a few months later after discovering its not for them.

Ok, its a 93,
so its never going to be a new car again is it.
for referance, my next door neighbors big citroen car thingy is just 2 years old, but its going rotton at the very front of the bonnet, has bad blistering !!
my J plated disco had lots of welding done, sills made and or repaired, rear floor, back box section, rear passenger floor, plus other bit too many to mention BUT, I am fussy about "rust"
my motto is, "If in doubt - cut it out"
so I did, was under it for 3 months a few years ago.
my chassis is as sound as a £pound, but then I wax oil it in box sections/jet wash and shutz everything each year,
but I am fussy - have lots of time.
when you buy another car at sometime, even in the new pink logbooks, it has got,
buyer beware in it !!
its either a bargain,
or a pile of crap - buyer beware - thats you I`m afraid.

me 87 90 was 12 previous owners, all has been fine, at least what you'd expect from a vehicle that's been thrashed in all sorts of situations for over quarter of a century! In my opinion it just depends on how its been looked after / how much paperwork and history its got.

1992 RR with 6 previous.people prolly bought it and then realised the petrol bills post 1999. Just check the usual places for rot and check the patching is actually done properly.

my 1989 90 has had 13 previous owners! im not bothered but sometimes trying to work out what some of the previous owners have done becomes tricky! alot of people think they are professional but really arnt and bodge it. Not me though

I don't see why pos are important as long as its not a dog and you like it go for it. Just do your research take as long as you need to check it and don't feel pressured to buy it. If your not sure walk away there's plenty to choose from.

Number of po's is important IMO, if it's been owned by a bunch of people and moved on every few months or so then it may not have had the attention it deserved/needed. Doesn't necessarily mean its a dog but approach with care.
On the other hand it's 20years old so is going to have a few owners. It's all about condition so examine very carefully and if in doubt walk away. Plenty of others out there to look at.
