Would I be correct in thinking these are

750/100 R16

OR

750/80 R16

Factory fitted original tyres on my 2008 110 Hard Top. They just say 750 R16

Thanks

Mike

Thanks. However I have googled and found both 750/80 R16 and 750/100 R16 advertised.

I was wondering whether 750/80 R16 were for Series Land Rovers?

Mike

They are actually 7.5 R16....( not 750) and normally michelin XZL I ran them for 6 years or so, good in snow n mud scary in the wet on tarmac.
just like football boots with studs on pavement lol.
235/85 or 265/75(Better) are nearest equivalent.

reccomend 265/75 R16 119R BFG All Terrain T/A KO 2 Commercial superb!

i've seen that too, the ratio was always around 100% but i'm starting to see radials done in crossply sizes
750/100/16 will be the closest option, 750/80/16 will have a smaller sidewall and a smaller rolling circumference

agree, but 265/75 R16 119R BFG All Terrain T/A KO 2 Commercial are as good as it gets IMO, wish i had got them years ago.

Thanks. However I have googled and found both 750/80 R16 and 750/100 R16 advertised.

Hi Mike, not sure where you are seeing this. Suspect it is just a fault/bodge on some sites, as they only want to use one type of tyre sizing, e.g. Width/Profile/R/Rim

These tyres should be 7.50 x 16

Meaning they are 7.5" wide, with what should be a 7.5" side wall on a 16" rim.

This was once a common set of tyre sizes from a range:

6.00 x 16
6.50 x 16
7.00 x 16
7.50 x 16
8.25 x 16
9.00 x 16 (Common military size and used on old tractors and some trailers).

You can still get 7.50 x 16 tyres, although choice is a little limited.

What sort of tyre are you looking for?

7.50 x 16 is a really nice tyre size, as they are tall and narrow. So for UK terrain and off roading they tend to work very well. Also meant to be good in sand in too.

Land Rover did switch to 235/85R16 in the 1990s as the factory size, likely due to availability. A 235/85 needs a slightly wider rim, so technically shouldn't be used on early models or Series rims, but latter rims would be fine.

A 235/85 is slightly fatter, but very similar height.

A 7.50 x 16 should be 7.5 + 7.5 (two sidewalls, top & bottom) + 16 for the rim. Giving a total diameter of 31"

A 235/85 is 235mm width with an aspect ratio of 85%, being 199.75mm x 2 (for two sidewalls) = 399.5mm or 15.73" + 16 for the rim = 31.73"

In practice they are quite similar however. I believe BFG claims their 7.50 x 16 is 31.8" while their 235/85 tyres are listed at 31.7"

A 265/75R16 is also a similar height, but a lot fatter.
