Hi folks,

td4 is now at its service time and with its miles and age the 7 year/72k service is the closest.

Apart from all the filters and the fluids, is there any other items needing changed, diff oils, gearbox oils etc?

I agree with Angeloc, if in ANY doubt about the state of the vcu swap it for a Bell recon.
Also I would replace the crankcase breather filter with the BMW cyclonic valve mod kit, about £20 from your local BMW dealer, just ask for the "innards" to suit the M47 breather box. I also sucked out as much oil out of the rear diff as I could with a large syringe and rubber tube, and refilled with a good 80w90 gear oil. If you want to go the whole hog, grease up all the window winder cables, sunroof cables and runners with "white spray grease".

I do get what sounds like rubbing from underneigh when on full right lock and setting off, doesnt happen any other time though.
The vcu was replaced with a refurb when it failed.

I'll get the diff oils changed then as the car was solely used as a tow car for the first 37k of its life and i recon thats lead to some of the issues ive had, that and the owners lack of basic maintanance of it.

Ah well, its had the front brakes redone, disc's, pads's, cailper bolts, guide pins and shims all replaced with brand new geniune parts, cost alot but it needed done and i can now leave them and focus on other parts.
