I'm going to embark on changing my commercial to a car and was wondering if the 5 door rear seats fit the 3 door model. A lot of 5 door rear seats for sale but not many 3 door hence the query. Thanks.
hi mate
I've done the commercial to car conversion
yes the rear seats are the same in the 3 and 5 door models , apart from the fronts that req the lever to allow the back to go forward , in order passengers can get in the back
rear seats come either with an armrest of not, I've got ones without the armrest so u can then get 3 x seats in the back, with the armrest it's only 2 x seats , without armrest gives u 60/40 split
normally better to get a complete seat so they are all the same age, pattern etc
get some coppaslip for the seat base bolts
please make sure u get all the fittings, clips etc , also the bracket for the rear seat belts will require welding , had to get mine done
they are placed at the rear wheel arches, the brackets hold the inertia seat belts
also may require a diagnostic plugged in to clear the srs light, due to u unplugging the front seats if u remove them , comes up as a hard fault
I fitted rear quarter light Windows myself, the metal panels are fixed in with very strong sealant , with a Stanley knife and slowly but surely they come out, these are the ones fitted in the body , not the hard top, I left them alone
u can buy another hardtop with the windows in if u wish , will cost around £150-200 quid for a second hand one , I didn't bother , as i fitted a rigid rear parcel shelf , so keeps the back more private
u will need the seals, screws and window fittings
rear side panels, boot light,
lastly please if I may say make sure u advise ur insurance company , get ur v5 changed to 5 seats and from commercial to private
I had my rear seat belt brackets welded in by a garage and also a new mot done at the same time, to save explaining later on about why the extra seat belts were fitted
if u get stuck please feel free to send me an email and will be happy to help all I can
ps, when you've removed the rear cage, sheet of ply , carpet make sure u Hoover everything out and run a bead of silicone around the rear boot welds, as they can sometimes allow water ingress
should cost around £4-500 for the whole interior including a new carpet
get a 3 door carpet , not the 5 door carpet as for some reason one is shorter than the other , they are connected by small round clips, get them from the breakers as they are £10 quid each
hope that helps abit
