Hello all, I found this site while trying to find info on the A 4x4 is Born series on Discovery Home & Leisure. As the partner of a Landy fanatic, I was struck by a certain amount of negativity on the site. Especially this one -

2000 man hours at £40 per hour (estimate) == £80000
Scorpion Extreme suspension kit - £1500
Warn winch - £800
Heavyweight bumper - £300
Sand Ladders - £300
Modular Wheels - £240
Tyres - £700
Gearbox rebuild - £800???
Paint - £2500

Totally incomplete, but figure on at least £7140 without taking the manpower
into account - closer to £90k taking the manpower into account.

P.

Now as far as I know - anyone who is restoring someting they are passionate about does not take the cost of labour into account !!!!

I watched a programme recently which showed the great late Fred Dibnah driving his traction engine around the county just before his death - it only took him 27 years to complete!! Dont fancy calculating the Labour charges for that!!

I appreciate that Mark Evans is making a commercial programme but I fnd it hard to believe that the man wouldnt be as passionate about the work even if he wasnt being paid for it.

Not having previously shared my partners love of the landy, I find myself a convert as a result of this programme. But am dissapointed at the responses I read on the site.

Sorry to be so negative on my first posting - but we have to start somewhere !!
