Good afternoon, drove down a rough wet track on Saturday and had the brake, TCS and ABS lights come on. When I left about an hour later I think it was only the Brake and ABS lights on - these then went out after about 300M. Yesterday they pinged back on so tried to do some fault finding. I only have an Icarsoft reader which didn't show any faults but did allow me to reset the lights. Decided to be clever and see if all the ABS sensors were reading correctly so put the reader in a monitor value mode and drove up the lane. Lots of lights on the dash initially but suddenly all went out and comms lost to ABS. Restarted car and no 'pings' on startup and warning lights off so took for a test drive and initiated TCS by a bit of cambered gravel driving, now I have ABS, TCS, Brake and Hill descent warnings on and if I try to connect with the reader manually or automatically I only get Airbag and that's it. No communication to anything else.
Fuses checked OK inside and in engine bay but that's it so far. Keeps raining so keyboard investigation being carried out!
Any pointers?
Many thanks!

Hi, unfortunately we can't really trust that icarsoft for this diagnose but i'm a bit confused... how did you "reset the lights" with it while there was no fault code to be erased?

Aamof the SLABS ECU cuts comms with diagnostics when the vehicle exceeds 10mph or so so that's not weird but you should be able to communicate with the other ECUs by selecting them separately, forget that "automatic" mode cos that's valid only for OBD2 protocol

make sure you have good battery voltage and double check fuses 27 and 28 interior fusebox and if these are OK i can't help more untill you plug in a more reliable scanner or you regain comms with your's and get a ABS related fault code.

Hi sierrafery, whilst there were no faults listed on the Icarsoft, the warning lights were on. I went into the menu option to clear fault codes and the lights went out!
I'll check the interior fuses again but don't have another scanner available at present and getting one won't be a very quick job. Most packages take best part of a week to get here.

Insist maybe you can gain comms again with the ABS cos it should be a fault code logged unless the ECU failed but for this a confirmation with more reliable scanner is needed

I'll recheck fuses tomorrow but something odd has happened, before if I smart scanned it came up with 4 or 5 control units, now I only get the airbag.

Well, that was odd - fuses were all OK. Removed BCU and SLABS, checked continuity of pink wire from diagnostic plug to modules. Checked continuity of earth to modules and ABS pump, couldn't find anything wrong. Put it all back together and now Icarsoft can see the modules and I have an 'erratic sensor' fault for front left wheel!
