3mb oil filter housing interchangeable with 5mb?

I'm swapping the tired old 3mb petrol engine in my Series 3 with a low mileage 5mb engine that I've bought on ebay. The engine has turned up today minus the oil filter and housing. Can I simply swap the 3mb one over? I have a nasty feeling that one of the ways people tell the difference between a 3mb and 5mb engine is the oil filter, which implies that they are different.

they will swap ok , its the smooth channel on bottom of block on a 3 bearing and lattice shape on 5 bearing that denotes blocks

If it's any help this is my original oil filter housing from my S3 5mb after a good clean up today to give you a comparison.
