30mm wheel spacers, good or bad ?

I have been tempted to get some 30mm wheel spacers for my 90. However I am getting mixed reviews with regards to suspension and wheel bearing failure. Surely the suspension and wheel bearings can cope with this small 30mm offset ? I use the landrover on my farm and rural roads, rarely going over 50mph.
What are your comments ? The 90 is certainly not an off road racer, nor is it a high street posing machine. ITs a hard working farmers machine.

This is my first venture in to 90 ownership so any helpfull advice would be appreciated

It will be just for the more aggressive look, performance increase will not really be noticeable. You will have to change the wheel bearings a bit more regularly and make sure the wheels don't stick out beyond the wheel arches else you'll fail the mot, the components will wear out a bit quicker but you will end up with a meaner looking car!

it knocks the **** outta yer bearings as the force applied int jus from 30mm.
you have to take the overall dia of the tyre and multiply any force by that. so if yer got big fook orf tyres on the extra force from 30mm spacers will be even more that from standard tyres with 30mm spacers.

also the rest of the suspension suffer as a result.

personally, i dont like em. yer wheel bearings do take huge strain, and i have seen em collapse. yer standard offset is designed to distribute the stresses evenly across yer inner and outer bearings. yer front wheel bearings are very slightly biased to the inner bearing to accomodate turning. turn left, yer right wheel bearings go pretty close to a balanced offset, the left wheel bearings do go the otherway, but is compensated for because of the weight shift going across to the right wheel. put spacers in, the whole thing is fooked up. rather go for wider rims with the correct offset. it is especially critical on a 4x4 because of the uneven terrain they are operated in. bearings take a hammering as it is, now you put spacers on, and the stresses increase dramatically. not a good idea

all depends on the look you are after or the wheels iv got 30s on with 37 1350 17 wheels
and thay feel more solid on the road
puting new on that bit sooner is just one of thows things we have to put up with but thay dont cost the earth so i dont mind

Also, going off-roading will cause serious damage, and if it's an organised event you will not be allowed to take part as they are banned by the MSA.
