swapping over my early 300tdi for one out an R reg disco.

There was a white wire (very thin) plugged into the connector shown in red. On the new engine there is a different arrangement with a multi plug.
What do I do here? Where do I connect the white cable?

I also have a thin white cable with brown banding. Can’t remember where I took it off! Same sort of area of the engine...

That looks like the stop solenoid on the injection pump. I’m not sure what colour the wire should be, but it should be live with ignition on, and while cranking, and not when ignition is off.

I’m not sure what the multi plug connector is off.

you need to break the plastic cover of from the rear of pump its help on by 2 security screws, underneath youll find the solenoid remove the wire from it and fit your single solenoid wire

Great thanks. Will it be obvious when I take the cover off?
I assume the cables here are not required for my engine?

I also have a second set of 3 wires at the front of the pump arrangement. It also comes off a plastic cover. Will these also be redundant? What were/are they for? You can see the plug and plastic cover in this pic

its obvious once covers removed, the plastic cover is a security device, it needs a signal through the wires as well as a live feed, once you get that lot of just a single live feed is needed , the front is a throttle pot used for egr, just leave it tied up out the way

Perfect! Thank you very much!
And evening of frustration and head scratching solved again!

Ok, so the holes in the casing that I thought were the screw holes... are not screws! Some kind of rivet!

Is this the right box to take off, should I just break it off? Or drill out the rivers?
