Sorry for the long post but more info is better than none!!!

Hi all new to the old forums but have been lurking for a bit reading up on Discos and have found loads of useful info so thanks retrospectively for that :)

I have a 1995 tdi300 comercial with a 3 + 3" sus/body lift, replaced props, hockey sticks and all that jazz running 31-11.5-r15 bfgs, she has been good as gold dispite the 254k on the clock running the original engine/gear/transfer

Bought her a little while ago off a chap in Nottingham who had spent far too much on her.

Now my tale of woe :( to which I hope you will be able to answer me what went pop!

I was going along at about 30mph when I heard a nasty bang resulting major resistance to the disco and a pul to the left, with it returning to normal straight away. Woke the misses up with a start and didn't fill me with confidence

5 miles later I turn left up a slight incline and I feel a total loss of drive for a split second and then a bang, followed by a nasty grind with the disco slowing down like I was standing on the brakes. I dipped the clutch which had no effect and pulled her onto the pavements.

2 hour wait and a flat bed home I have done some "tests"

jacking each wheel up with her in nutral/high/no CDL I can spin both the front wheels, I get about a 1/16 - 1/8th turn before the diff turns the prop (is this too much?). Front nearside bearing is on the way out and one stearing ball joint is very dead (joy)

On to the rear and I can't turn either wheel off the ground I get a 1/8th turn on both before the prop starts to move. hmm CDL may have engaged itself I thought

Nose in the cab and the Transfer stick is in the middle I can't get it in High or low and wherever the stick is I have drive now (driven it very slowly)moving it to either CDL on or off makes no odds and can't get into high or low in either position. before in the center position I got no drive as was in Transfer nutral.

To me I think the Transfer box has died (fair dues as it has done its time)

Any thoughts advice would be most appretiated.

I was going to bin the transmission anyway as I have the 2nd gear crunch and she is a little whiny and has a leak (engine is strong as though)

I will be popping in a new box, transfer and maybe some arb lockers / diffs as well (when I work out if I want to drop the dif or high gear ratio to correct for some bigger boots) but I have to wait a month or so to get the cash so if it was a diff I would bung a second hand one in so I can drive her

Anyway no thread is any good without pictures!!! So her is some of my sick baby

Cheers in advance for any help
