300TDI temp gauge not working

hi!

i've recently bought a 300tdi d1, the temp gauge doesn't work.

the needle sits below minimum leading me to think its the gauge rather than the sender.

where do i start?

is the temp part of the gauges available separately or will i need to replace the whole binnacle?

or is it likely to be the sender? if so where is it?

check the wiring 1st.

take the connector off the sender and check the gauge. then earth the sender end and check the gauge again.

one should be fsd and the other no movement
