300tdi or v8 ?

hi all been a while since i been on hear but time to buy a new disco i used to have a 1995 300tdi but never really off road now im wanting to buy another but i cant decide wether i want a 300tdi or a v8 can anyone let me no the pros and cons of both if im wanting to offroad and witch would be best for the job any help would be grate

300 is easier to water proof and cheaper to run

but what if runing costs dont matter ? i only do 4 miles a day to work

still a diesel ,you can water proof a petrol but diesel already is

as above really, the main issue with v8 is water, they dont like it, tbh if it was me id spend somne time water proofing the v8 as i find my 300tdi a litle under powered i loved my v8 series, and currently looking into a v8 disco for a play thing

thanks guys think a 300tdi it is then if its going to be that much of a ball ache to water proof and i suppose that even after the best attempet at waterproof still that risk there and costing a lot of money to put right

It's not that much effort to waterproof a V8. Bear in mind that if a v8 ingests water you might be ok, but if a TDi does, the engine WILL be destroyed. The v8 has a much more effective cabin heater and is smoother and a lot quieter...
