Hi, I've got a Defender 110 300tdi that has missed its regular oil change with regard to elapsed time. Generally, I'd aim to change oil at least once a year, regardless of mileage. This vehicle has hardly been used in recent years and has probably only done 1,000 since its last oil and filter change... but that was proably well over 2 years ago. I would imagine that oil degenerates with time - even when the engine has not been used much. Is that true... if so, is there anything special I should do for its next oil change? Should I put lower viscosity oil in it for the next change? I seem to recall a friend talking about 'special flushing oil'... any ideas on whether this could be a good idea... and what exactly it is?

its not as good as castrol magnatec . we use that in our tractors telehandlers combine etc and all the landys its much beta

It isn't quite as easy to rip-off farmers though .....

D'ya reckon - Defra have had them bent over since day one......
I still think the farmers ought to get together and tell them to shove it.
 
If yo have bin changin yer oil like yer say, then it ain goin to be as black as ****esen if it aint done many miles since.

As allready said. Universal is as good as yo will get for the price.
Yo will probly have to have a 205 litre drum though, available from most fuel suppliers.
 
As I mentioned a coupla weeks ago, CostCo are doing 20 litre drums of Chevron 15w40 Diesel oil for £18. Good stuff anorl, meets all the major manufacturers specs...
